In Paris this week, Canada’s own Sorel Mizzi took the High Roller event crown against 35 fellow competitors who each bought in for €15,000 apiece.
The event really heated up once it was down to Mizzi and American poker player Freddy Deeb. Although Mizzi began the heads-up battle with a staggering lead over Deeb, it quickly became clear that the game wasn’t over yet. Deeb put up a valiant fight, though in the end Mizzi came out ahead.
This victory for Mizzi puts his career live tournament earnings at well over $4 million, and his online poker earnings over his career are getting closer and closer to the $2.5 million mark. For the current calendar year, the total amount he has won is now just shy of $600,000.
