Daniel Negreanu returned to Canada from playing the 2012 Aussie Millions to realize his PokerStars account had been hacked. Someone played online poker using his screen name – and bank roll – and lost over $46,000 after playing about 400 hands in total.
Fellow players noticed “Negreanu”’s uncharacteristic bad decisions and started questioning what was going on. Eventually it became apparent that not only had his PokerStars account been hacked by someone with a lot of room for improvement in the game of poker, but his email account was also said to have been compromised.
It is assumed that PokerStars will reimburse the celebrity poker player for the money lost by the infiltrator.
