An online poker site on the Everleaf Gaming network has updated its terms of service to note that no player based in the United States may participate in real money online poker. This update came after the site was told by the United States Department of Homeland Security that it must “cease and desist” offering online poker services to American customers.
The update does not directly affect Canadian players who use the network, although it may affect the level of traffic those in Canada are accustomed to seeing if American competitors are no longer allowed to play.
The number of online poker sites that continue to offer services to players based in the States continues to decline seemingly by the day as the government puts more and more pressure on the industry. Only time will tell if and when the few remaining sites servicing American online poker players are urged to exit the market or face federal prosecution.
